Diekevers, Ed 1884-1947 buried in Boyden cemetery.

Mr. Ed Diekevers passed away at his home in Boyden on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 1947 at the age of 63 years, 11 months and 7 days. He was born at East Saugatuck, Mich. on Jan. 3, 18 84. He came to Boyden from Michigan at the age of 21 years.

He was married to Adrianna Ver Hoef of Boyden on Mar. 13, 1908. To this union seven children were born. They are Carrie, (Mrs. Vernoa Ingalls) of Sheldon; Walter of Boyden; Thelma, (Mrs. Elmer Kooiman) of Edgerton MN; George of Boyden; Adrian of Flandreau SD; Harold of Sheldon; Marvin of Hull

He is survived by his wife, seven children, seven grandchildren one sister, Mrs. John Scholten of Boyden, one brother Neal Diekevers of Hospers, one uncle Henry Diekevers in Michigan and other relatives. His parents, two brothers, one sister preceded him in death.

In 1908 he affiliated himself with the Farmers Coop Assoc in which capacity he continued to serve until the time of his death. His time of service with this company was 39 years and 3 months. He was a member of the Boyden First Reformed Church.

Funeral services were held Saturday at 1 o’clock at the home and 1:30 at the First Reformed Church Rev. Chester Postma and Rev. J. F; Shortinghuis, pastor of the United Presbyterian officiated at the services. A quartet: Sam Ver Hoef of Rock Valley, Bernie and Clarence Ver Hoef of Sioux Center and Lester Foreman of Hull sang two selections, The Old Rugged Cross and In the Land Where We Never Grow Old. Pallbearers were Peter De Boer. John Van De Har, Jim Smit, Joe Hoen, Thys Doele, Siemus Smid. Interment was made the Boyden cemetery.
