Didier, Barbara Mrs. Nick nee; Hess 1862-1952 buried in St. Joseph’s cemetery Granville, IA.

Mrs. Barbara (Nicholas) Didier passed on at her home on Thursday afternoon at the age of 90 years. A pioneer of this county, she lived for over 60 years in Granville. Her husband, the late Nicholas Didier. who died in 1910, was one of the first merchants in Granville, the couple having come here from Luxemburg, Iowa.

Barbara Hess was born at Luxemburg, Iowa April 9, 1862, daughter of Frank and Elizabeth Hess. She attended school there and on July 24, 1885 she was married to Nicholas Didier. In June of 1887 the couple came to Granville.

Mrs. Didier was a faithful member of St. Joseph Parish a charter member of the Christian Mothers confraternity. She was a loving wife and mother and kind neighbor, an influence for good in the community.

Surviving arc four daughters and two sons, namely Mary at home. Mrs. Henry (Theresa) Becker. Mrs. Frank (Clara) Wagner. Anna, all of Chicago; Nick J. of Granville. Alphonso of Chicago: one brother. Chas. P. Hess of Pomona, Calif. and the only surviving member of the family; eight_ grandchildren: Marie Winslow, Clara Mae Malcolm. Marian Wagner, Francis Wagner, Barbara Pottebaum, Catherine Zen. Mary Rolfson……and Didier, the last with ……..

There are also ten great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, 7 sisters and brothers and her husband. Four of her sons died in infancy.

Solemn requiem mass was read by Rev. Lawrence Klein of Wesley as celebrant, assisted by Rev. Wingert of Sheldon and a priest from Milford. Interment was in the family lot in St. Joseph cemetery. Pall bearers were Emil Lucas, Clarence Offerman, Wm. Lais, henry Klein, Nick Klein and Hilary Klein.
