Harry Stephenson, 86, of rural Alcester died Friday at a Hawarden Hospital of a brief illness.

Services were at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday in the United Methodist Church in Hawarden. The Reverend Marion Bloodworth officiated. A prayer service was conducted at 7:30 P.M. Monday in the Dow Funeral Home at Hawarden.

Mr. Harry Stephenson was born April 1, 1891 at Ellinwood, Kansas and moved at age 7 with his parents, Augustus and Margaret (Cardwell) Stephenson to Sioux County, Iowa. He married Julia Jepsen on February 20, 1917 in Union County. Mr. Stephenson farmed in the Hawarden and Alcester area until retiring in 1967. He was a member of the United Methodist Church at Hawarden.

Survivors include the widow; a son, Harold of Alcester and five grandchildren.
