Augustus C. Stephenson, 94, a resident of this area 63 years, died from pneumonia Monday evening in the Jacobs Home for the Aged.

Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock this afternoon at the Frazier Funeral Home with Reverend B. Roy Brown officiating. Burial will be in Grace Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Stephenson suffered a stroke May 27, 1948, and even before then his eyesight was so greatly impaired that he was almost blind.

He was born June 2,1859, at Durham, Missouri, and grew up in that vicinity. He also spent part of his earlier life in Kansas.

He married Miss Margaret Jane Cardwell of La Grange, Missouri, January 15, 1890, at Durham. They lived four years in Kansas, but due to the drought they came to this vicinity in 1890, traveling in a covered wagon. He lived in the Hawarden territory ever since, except for 18 months when he was at Sturgis, South Dakota.

Survivors are three children, Harry Stephenson and Mrs. Chris Johannsen of Alcester and Onnie Stephenson of Los Angeles, California, eight grandchildren. His wife preceded him in death July 16, 1948. One son Roy, also preceded him in death.
