Viola Steichen, 63, of Alton, died Wednesday in a Sioux City Hospital of a long illness.

Services were at 10:30 A.M. Friday in St. Mary's Catholic Church at Alton. The Reverend Mervin Hod officiated. Burial was in the parish cemetery. The Fisch Funeral Home of Remsen was in charge. The Rosary was said Thursday at 3 P.M. and 8 P.M. in the parish hall.

Viola Steichen was born November 8, 1913 in Alton , daughter of Joseph and Louise (Langenhorst) Steichen. She resided in the area all her life. She was a member of St. Mary Parish, and of the Catholic Daughters of America at Granville, and St. Mary Rosary Solidity.

Survivors include her mother, Mrs. Joseph (Louise) Steichen; a son, Robert Lee of Granville and a brother, Earl of Alton; and a sister, Mrs. Lawrence M. (Margaret) Klein of Hospers; and three grandchildren.
