From the Sioux Center News, July 27, 1933:

Mrs. A. T. Mackie of Hull Dies

Mrs. A. T. Mackie of Hull was taken ill suddenly with severe pains in her stomach Friday morning, on July 14th, and was rushed to the hospital the next morning. Her condition perplexed the doctors, who pronounced it a case of "obstruction of the bowels". An operation was advised, but the condition of her heart would not permit it.

Mrs. Mackie was conscious during her severe illness and realized the seriousness of it. She prayed to her Saviour for relief which came Friday afternoon, July 21st, at the age of 61. She was able to express many last wishes, which were fully carried out.

The Mackie's located in Hull in 1888, and have lived here since, making many friends. Two daughters were born to this union: Mrs. R. J. Snow of Atlanta, Ga., (Florence Mackie), who died in Feb. of this year; and Mrs. B. A. Saeger of Alvord (Maybelle C. Mackie).

Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon from the A.T. Mackie home with Rev. R. Jager officiating. Burial was made at the Hope Cemetery beside her daughter Mrs. R. J. Snow as her last request was that her burial be carried out as nearly like her daughter's as possible, she being able to choose and make her own plans.

Mrs. Mackie is survived by her husband A. T. Mackie, one daughter, Mrs. B. A. Saeger of Alvord; one granddaughter, June Saeger and two sons-in-law, B. A. Saeger of Alvord and R. J. Snow of Atlanta, Ga.; two sisters of Denver, Colo., Mrs. D. A. Freeman, and Mrs. T. J. Perks, and one nephew, Gordon Mackie of Hull.
