Jacob Stander, died at a local hospital Monday, March 30 at the age of 74 years and eleven months.

He suffered an illness of 7 months, due to cancer. He was cheerful and very patient during his illness, which endeared him to all.

Mr. Stander was born in the province of South Holland, the Netherlands on May 1, 1867. At the age of 26 years he came to Canada and a year later he came to America and lived in Sioux County until the time of his death.

In the year 1900, he was united in marriage to Miss Lena Ter Horst and they settled on a farm.

To this union five children were born namely, Johanna, Mrs. Lou Van't Hof of Alton; John, Minnie, Mrs. Otto A. Rouwenhorst; Cora, Mrs. Henry Van Klompenburg and Dick of Alton. In 1916, Mrs. Stander preceded him in death.

Surviving are the 3 daughters, 2 sons, 14 grandchildren, one brother still in the Netherlands, and one sister, Mrs. Thomas Smit at Sioux Center.

Mr Stander was a faithful member of the First Reformed Church.

Funeral services will be at the home of his son John Stander at 12:45 this afternoon (Thursday) and at 1:30 in the First Reformed Church with Reverend Mr. H. Colenbrander officiating. Interment will be made in the local cemetery.
