Born: November 13, 1835
Died: May 8, 1917Klaas Spykerman, an old time resident of this community, died Wednesday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. H. Keujers at Holland, Michigan at the age of 86 years.
Spykerman from here and Gerrit of Boyden went to Michigan a week ago to be at the bedside of their father. They bought the body home and the funeral will be held Saturday. Interment in the Presbyterian Cemetery.
The entire community extends their sympathy to the bereaved relatives.
From the marriage record Netherlands – Klaas Spykerman 31 years born at Staphorst Overijssel, Netherlands. He married 16 March 1867 at Staphorst to Aaltje Roo age 26 born Staphorst to Evert Roo and Geesje Kuiers--- In the 1885 Iowa census of Floyd Township, Sioux County, Iowa-- Klaas was 49, Alice was 44, children were John, Evert, Gerrit and Katie.)
