DEATH FOLLOWS BRIEF ILLNESS--MRS. E.A. SQUIER PASSED AWAY WEDNESDAY MORNING--LIVED IN THIS COMMUNITY FOR OVER FIFTY YEARS--SURVIVED BY HUSBAND AND FOUR SONS

Mrs. Edward A. Squier passed away at her home in Eagle Township at 8:45 Wednesday morning following a brief illness form acute Bright’s disease. She was bedfast for only about ten days and prior to that time had apparently been in her customary health. Her sudden death came as a great shock to the members of her family and wide circle of friends as the seriousness of her illness was not generally known.

Brief funeral services will be held at 1:30 o’clock Saturday afternoon at the home of her brother, Will E. White, to be followed by services at the Methodist Church at 2 o’clock in charge of her pastor, Reverend J.W. LaBrone. Interment will be made in Grace Hill Cemetery

Lucy White was born at Apple River, Illinois, and was 44 years of age at the time of her death. When a small child she came with her parents, James and Alice (Underwood) White to Hawarden in 1886 and her home has ever since been in this community. On February 26, 1902, she was united in marriage with Mr. Edward A. Squier and they immediately went to housekeeping on the farm in Eagle Township where their entire wedding life has been spent. Five sons were born to them, the oldest dying in infancy.

The children who survive are Wayne, Orville, Harvey and Leland, all at home. Her mother also survives her but her father passed away last August. She also leaves two brothers and four sisters, Will E. White of Hawarden, Mrs. E.C. Clark of Hecla, South Dakota, Mrs. T.H. Sullivan and Mrs. T. Cole, both of Great Falls, Montana, Robert White of Hawarden and Mrs. Ben Wells of Turton, South Dakota.

During her long residence in this community, Mrs. Squier made many lasting friendships. She was devoted to her home and family and her death comes as a severe blow to the members of her household and will be keenly felt by the community at large. To the sorrowing husband and children, the aged mother and the brothers and sisters and other relatives goes out the deepest sympathy of hundreds of old friends and neighbors.
