Andrew “Andreas” P. Sorgdrager died at his home in Alton Monday morning August 8th. He was born at Terschelling Netherlands January 6, 1838. He was married to Miss Kate Hock at Terschelling Netherlands forty-nine years ago. To this union ten children were born--six of these are living. In 1867 Mr. and Mrs. Sorgdrager came to America to try their fortune. They came to Iowa and made their first home at Ackley. Afterwards they lived in Eldora and Grinnell and in 1882 the family came to Sioux County locating near Alton. Mr. Sorgdrager was a retired farmer at the time of his death. He had prospered and was well to do.

The funeral was held on Wednesday afternoon from the Reformed Church, Reverend Douwstra of Hospers officiating.

Deceased is survived by his wife and two brothers--John of Archer and Sip of Alton-- and six children: John, Mrs. William Van Nimwegen, Neil, Andrew, Mary and Dorris all of Alton.

Jake Vander Ploeg and Herman Apkes of Chancellor, South Dakota, George Smit of Davis, South Dakota, John Sorgdrager and Mrs. H. Kleinhekseo and John Duimstra of Archer, G. Ver Schoor and wife of Rock Valley, G. Vander Wilt and Dick De Raad of Middleburg, Albert Klein and wife and John Roetman of Hospers and Gossen De Boer and Arie Roggen of Hull were among those who attended the funeral.
