FUNERAL FOR DORRIS SORGDRAGER AT REFORMED CHURCH FRIDAY

Dorris Sorgdrager, life long resident of this community, died at 11:40 o’clock Monday night, May 9, at the Orange City Hospital at the age of 75 years, after an extended illness. He had been a patient at the hospital for ten days.

Born on a farm east of Alton June 2, 1880, he was the son of a pioneer residents, Andreas and Kate (Hock) Sorgdrager. March 5, 1903, he married Kate Veen, and one son, John was born to them. They lived on the farm until 1913 when they moved to Alton. Their only son died in 1944 at Sioux City.

Surviving are his wife, a semi-invalid for many years, and one sister, Miss Marie Sorgdrager of Orange City.

The body will be at the Allen Funeral Home from Thursday noon until 2:00 P.M. Friday when the funeral services will be held at the First Reformed Church, Reverend Sandee officiating. Expected for the services are the widow of their son, John, now remarried and living in California and her children, Mr. and Mrs. Boston of Sioux City, who have been frequent visitors and have shown much kindness to the aged couple.
