Miss Teuntje Spaan, 82, died at a local hospital at 1 p.m. Wednesday. She suffered a broken hip Tuesday morning when she fell in her room at the Pioneer Home. Miss Spaan got out of bed, went to the window and there became dizzy resulting in the fall which caused her death. She was one of the earliest residents of the Home going there to live in 1929.

Miss Spaan was born in Pella and came here with her parents, Henry and Cornelia (Muilenburg) Spaan, in 1872.

Surviving are one sister, Mrs. William Muilenburg of Orange City and one brother, Reverend Mr. W. C. Spaan of San Jose, California. Also 24 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded, in death by her brothers, Henry Spaan of Lynden, Washington; Herman Spaan of Orange City; Reverend Mr. C. Spaan of Grand Rapids; and John Spaan of Indianapolis, Indiana and her sisters Mrs. A. Heemstra and Miss Minnie Spaan.

Funeral services will probably be held Saturday. The family is awaiting word from Reverend W.C. Spaan who is attending Synod in Los Angeles.
