Miss Hermina "Minnie" Spaan died at her home Sunday morning at 3 o'clock at the age of 53 years. Deceased was born on the farm north of town on September 25, 1875. She attended the Orange City Public School and many years ago she came with her parents to town. Since the death of her parents, Henry and Cornelia (Muilenburg) Spaan, she lived in the parental home with her oldest sister, Miss Teuntje Spaan.

Miss Hermina had not been well for a number of years but yet she was always able to be up and around, tending to the household duties and caring for her sister who was at times quite an invalid. Deceased took to her bed about ten days before she passed away. She suffered from enlargement of the heart and dropsy.

She leaves four brothers: Henry Spaan, Lynden, Washington; Herman Spaan, Orange City; Reverend C. Spaan, Grand Rapids, Michigan; Reverend William Spaan, San Francisco, California; and three sisters: Miss Teuntje Spaan; Mrs. Alb. Heemstra and Mrs. William Muilenburg.

Funeral services took place this Thursday afternoon from the Trinity Reformed Church, Reverend Van Zommeren officiating.
