Funeral services for Cornelius R. "Neal" Spaan will be held at 1:30 p.m. today (Thursday) at the American Reformed Church with Reverend A. Hook officiating. Mr. Spaan, 64, a native of Orange City, died here on December 25. Born September 14, 1896, the son of Herman and Tryne (Jongewaard) Spaan, Cornelius R. Spaan spent all his life as a farmer. On December 19, 1925, he was married to Kate Theodora Stadt.

Surviving relatives include the widow; two sons, Dr. Robert C. Spaan of San Rafael, California, and James T. Spaan of Iowa City; two brothers, Al Spaan of Westwood Village, California, and Clarence Spaan of Kingsley; two sisters, Mrs. C. Van Zyl of Gresham, Oregon, and Mrs. Gil Reinders of Hospers; and four grandchildren,

One brother, Henry Spaan of Paullina, preceded him in death.

Pallbearers will be Earl Klay, Wilbur Ver Steeg, Ellsworth De Jong, Karl Seliger, Joe Smeenk and Charles Sterrenburg. Interment will be made in the Orange City Cemetery with the Van Etten Funeral Home in charge.
