Born: November 11, 1832
Died: March 7, 1912

Mrs. Henry Spaan of this city died early this morning at the advanced age of almost eighty years. For many years she has been an invalid and death came as a relief from her sufferings.

Mrs. Spaan, Cornelia Muilenburg, was born in the Netherlands and came with the earliest settlers to Pella, Iowa, and moved to Sioux County along with the pioneer settlers of this vicinity. For years Mr. and Mrs. Spaan lived on the old homestead north of town until they gave up farming and moved to town.

Mrs. Spaan is survived by her husband, Henry Spaan, and her children Henry of Lynden, Washington, Teuntje and Minnie who are still at home, Herman, Mrs. Muilenburg and Mrs. A. Heemstra all living near town, John an attorney at Indianapolis, Reverend C. Spaan attending Chicago University and Reverend W Spaan of California. Beside these immediate relatives Mrs. Spaan leaves three brothers who have reached the age of four score, Messrs. H. Muilenburg, P. Muilenburg and A. Muilenburg.

The funeral will be held Tuesday at the First Reformed Church.
