Mr. Peter Soodsma passed away at the age of 82 years, 2 months, 20 days on Monday, October 9, following a lingering illness at the Sioux Center Hospital.

He was born July 19, 1879, in Friesland, Holland. He moved to Paterson, New Jersey at the age of two, and then to Luctor, Kansas at the age of six. He attended the Luctor Christian Reformed Church at which place he made confession of his faith. He was united in marriage to Bertha Dekker on the 4th of April, 1904, in the Easter Sunday evening worship service. To this union were born six children.

In March of 1923 the family moved to a farm near Doon, Iowa. He retired in 1941 and moved to Hull where he made his home until he passed away. He served faithfully as both a deacon and elder in Luctor and later as an elder for many years in the First Christian Reformed Church of Hull.

He leaves to mourn his passing his widow, Bertha; his children, Mr. and Mrs. Bartle Soodsma, Mr. and Mrs. John Soodsma, Mrs. Tom Feenstra (Clara), Mr. and Mrs. Henry Soodsma, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Koele (Mabel), and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Scholten (Irma). He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, the Mr. and Mrs. Bartle Soodsma, three brothers and one sister, and two sons-in-law, Merle Klay and Tom Feenstra. His earthly tabernacle was laid to rest in the Hope Cemetery at Hull, Iowa.
