John "Jan" Solsma, Sr., 73, of Hospers, died last week Monday at a Sioux City Hospital of a brief illness. Services were at 1:30 P.M. Friday in the First Reformed Church, Hospers. The Reverend Henry J. Ver Meer officiated. Burial was in the Hospers Cemetery under the direction of the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home, Sioux Center.

Mr. Solsma was born January 21, 1904 at Alton, Iowa. He farmed near Sanborn and later near Hospers.

He married Agnes Roorda November 21, 1935 at Ypsilanti, North Dakota.

Survivors include the widow; three sons, Richard, John Jr. and Virgil, all of Hospers; a daughter, Mrs. Warren (Joyce) Mouw of Visalia, California; 13 grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Annetta Kruisselbrink of Woodstock, Minnesota, Mrs. Kate Ver Hoef and Mrs. Jennie Kruisselbrink, both of Sanborn, and Mrs. Johanna Adema of Sheldon; two brothers. Bert of Sheldon and Dick of Sanborn.
