Mrs. Lena Sol, 87, died at the Sheldon Nursing Home this Tuesday, April 29.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 1st, at 1:30 P.M. Thursday in the First Reformed Church, Alton, with the Reverend Clarence Greving officiating. Burial will be in Nassau Township Cemetery.

The former Lena Nieuwendorp, Mrs. Sol was born March 6, 1882, in Pella. Her family moved to Middleburg and then to Alton. She was married to Nicholas “Nick” Sol in 1912. The couple lived in Alton until Mr. Sol’s death in 1956.

Mrs. Sol then moved to Sibley to live with her son, Kenneth. She entered the Sheldon Nursing Home in 1963 due to failing health.

Mr. Sol was a member of the First Reformed Church of Alton and a life member of the Women’s Guild.

Mrs. Sol was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son, Earl and several brothers and sisters. She is survived by her son Kenneth of Sibley and three granddaughters, Mrs. Beverly Braun of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; Mrs. Patricia Knutson of Overland Park, Kansas and Mrs. Marilyn Gerjets of Atsugi, Japan.
