Pauline French Slife

A memorial service for Pauline French Slife, 70, of Albert Lea, MN, was held Wednesday, May 21, at 1:30 p.m. at Christ Episcopal Church in Albert Lea. Rev. Russ Johnson officiated.

Mrs. Slife, known as “Polly,” died Saturday, May 17, 1986, in Albert Lea, where she had resided since 1946. Polly was born in Hawarden on Dec. 20, 1915, to Sherman Queal French and Nellie Younie French. She graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1939 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in pipe organ and piano. At the University, she was a member of a music sorority and several societies. After graduation, Polly married Courtney A. Slife on June 19, 1939, in her parents’ home.

Polly is survived by her husband, their four children, Barbara of Fort Collinis, CO; Kathryn of New Hope, MN; Patricia of Sacramento, CA; and James of Brooklyn Park, MN; and nine grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her parents, aunts and uncles.
