From the Hawarden Independent, June 5, 1986:

Mary Alice Donovan, 91, of Hawarden, died Wednesday, May 28, 1986, at her residence in Hawarden. Services were at 2 p.m. Friday, May 30, in Dow Funeral Home in Hawarden. Pastor Sherman McCormick, of Sioux Falls, SD, officiated. Burial was in Mount Olive Cemetery near Linneus, MO.

Mrs. Donovan, the former Mary Alice Fitzpatrick, was born Nov. 15, 1894, in Wheeling, MO. She married Glenn Larson in January 1915, in Chillicothe, MO. He died in December 1918. She married John Donovan Sept. 26, 1923, at Chillicothe. The couple moved to the Ireton area in 1936 and into town in 1939. They moved to Hawarden in 1961. He died Dec. 28, 1969.

Mrs. Donovan was a member of the Hawarden Seventh Day Adventist Church.

Survivors include three sons, John W. Donovan of Sioux Falls, James M. Donovan of Nassau, The Bahamas, and O. A. “Bert” Donovan of Wheatland, WY; five daughters, Katherine Vande Pol of Hawarden, Alice McCausland of Sioux City, Mildred Vander Weide of Sioux Center, Hildred Vander Weide of Orange City and Betty Weyer of Fort Smith, AR; a stepdaughter, Lora Cullen of Noblesville, IN; 46 grandchildren and 63 great-grandchildren.
