WALTER DOLPHIN

SHELDON – Funeral services for Walter Dolphin, 82, of Sheldon were held Tuesday at the Sheldon Armory. Officiating were Vernon Spinner and Jon Platte. Burial was at East Lawn Cemetery under the direction of the Andringa Funeral Home of Sheldon. Pallbearers were Gerard Braaksma, Arlen Lode, Leonard Nieuwendorp, Rodney Dykstra, George Pekelder and Roger Jensen. Mr. Dolphin died Oct. 25 at Marian Health Center, Sioux City.

Walter Dolphin, the son of William and Maggie Dolphin, was born March 9, 1903 in rural Hospers. He attended Hospers area rural schools. He was married to Bessie Hoekstra at rural Orange City March 22, 1932. The couple lived at Hospers and Sheldon for a short time before farming near Sheldon.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Wanda Bannister of Sibley, Phyllis (Mrs. Bill) Huntoon of Marion ahd Delores Dolphin of Sioux City; two brothers, Henry of Sioux City and George of Melvin; two sisters, Mrs. Relph Hulst of Austin, Minn. and Erma Gross of Sioux City; and five grandchildren.
