MARGUERITE DOORENBOS

Marguerits Doorenboos, 85, of Boyden died Thursday, Oct. 30, 1997 at the Northwest Iowa Health Center in Sheldon. Services were held on Monday, Nov. 3 at 1:30 p.m. at the United Presbyterian Church in Boyden. The Rev. John Goertz officiated. Burial was in Sheridan Township Cemetery under the direction of the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home.

Marguerite was born Dec. 30, 1911 in Middleburg, the daughter of Antone and Hattie (Leusink) Bomgaars. She married Jacob Doorenbos on Sept. 18, 1930 in Boyden. The couple farmed in the Boyden area for many years. Mr. Doorenbos died Aug. 7, 1991 in Hull. She continued to live on the family farm. Mrs. Doorenbos was a member of United Presbyterian Church and the United Presbyterian Women.

Survivors include three sons and their wives, John and Jean, and Jim and Marlene all of Boyden, and Ivan “Dutch” and Bev of Rock Rapids; three daughters and their husbands, Harriet and Dick Giancaspro of Pagosa Springs, Colo., Shirlee and Bud Slaughter of Anaheim Hills, Calif., and Marliss and Larry De Jong of Sioux City; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by a grandchild, David; a great-grandchild; and two sisters.
