JACOB DOORENBOS

Jacob Doorenbos, 83, of Boyden, died Wednesday, Aug. 7, 1991 at a nursing home in Hull. Services were 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the United Presbyterian Church in Boyden, with the Rev. John Goertz officiating. Burial was in the Boyden Cemetery.

Mr. Doorenbos was born Dec. 30, 1907, in Boyden, son of John and Winnie (Bleeker) Doorenbos. He married Marguerite Bomgaars Sept. 18, 1930, in Boyden. He was a retired farmer. He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters and their husbands, Harriet and Dick Giancaspro of Sky Forest, Calif.; Shirlee and Bud Slaughter of Anaheim Hills, Calif.; and Marliss and Larry DeJong of Sioux City; three sons and their wives, John and Jean, Jim and Marlene, all of Boyden, and Ivan “Butch” and Bev of Rock Rapids; a sister and brother-in-law, Winifred and Gerald Dykstra of Bellflower, Calif.; two brothers, Richard and Ted, both of Boyden; 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, David Doorenbos, a sister and four brothers.
