From the Sioux County Index-Reporter, February 24, 1999:

Lois Kuiper, 66, of Boyden, died Friday, Feb. 12, at her residence.
Memorial services were held on Tuesday morning at the United Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Goertz officiating. Interment was held prior to the service in Memory Gardens Cemetery at Sioux Center, under the direction of Vander Ploeg Funeral Home.

Mrs. Kuiper was born Dec. 27, 1932, in Boyden, to Lawrence and Elsie (Schafer) Doorenbos. She married William Kuiper on Nov. 23, 1976, in Boyden. He died June 14, 1992. She enjoyed bowling, fishing, and traveling.

She was a lifelong member of the United Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday school and served as an elder. She was active in the United Presbyterian Women, serving as moderator, and was a former moderator of the United Presbyterian Women of Prospect Hill Presbytery where she was treasurer.

Survivors include three brothers, Glen Doorenbos of Sibley, Harlan and his wife Maggie Doorenbos of Sioux Center, and Don and his wife Wanita Doorenbos of Boyden; one sister and her husband, Beverly and Ron Kruger of Sibley; two step-daughters and their husbands, Dittie and Virgil Houtkooper of Sioux Center, and Atty and Don Boyd of Sioux Falls, S.D.; five step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Lester and Douglas, and a niece.
