From the Boyden Reporter, March 19, 1959:

ARNOLD DOUGLAS DOORENBOS

Funeral services will be held Thursday “today” March 19 at 1:30 at the home and 2:00 p.m. at the United Presbyterian Church for Arnold Douglas Doorenbos, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Doorenbos, of north of Boyden, who passed away Sunday, March 15 at 8:10 a.m. at the Methodist hospital in Sioux City, following a six weeks illness. He was an invalid all his life.

Arnold Douglas was born July 1st, 1942, near Hull, Iowa, and reached the age of 16 years, 8 months and 15 days.

Arnold Douglas leaves to mourn his early passing his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Doorenbos; two sisters, Lois and Beverly Doorenbos amd three brothers, Harlan Doorenbos of Boyden, Glenn Doorenbos of George, and Donald Doorenbos with the U.S. Army at Fort Dix, N.J.; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Schafer and three nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother Lester. Arnold Douglas was a member of the United Presbyterian Church which he faithfully attended with his parents in his younger years.

Rev. John Irwin, pastor of the church, is to be in charge of the services. Mrs. Howard Verrips and Mrs. Harvey Vis will sing “The Lights of Home” and “I Won’t Have to Cross Jordon Alone.” Pallbearers are six cousins: Ivan Doorenbos, Leland Doorenbos, Russell Doorenbos, Duane Schafer, Allen Van Roekel and LeRoy Rholfs. Burial will take place at the Boyden Cemetery and will be under the direction of the Coop Burial Assn. of Sioux Center.
