RITES MONDAY FOR WILLIAM P. SCHWARZ

Funeral services for William Peter Schwarz, 54, were held at St. Joseph Church, Granville Monday at 9:00 o’clock with Reverend J.J. Dalhoff officiating at the Requiem Mass. Acolytes were Gerald Holles, Kenneth Heying and James Howard.

William Schwarz was born June 25, 189 at Granville, son of Peter and Theresa Schwarz. He died Friday morning, July 10, at the hospital in Austin, Minnesota where he was taken on Thursday morning after becoming very ill enroute from St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota to the Sacred Heart Hospital in Le Mars.

He married Bertha Freking in St. Joseph’s Church, Le Mars on January 22, 1924. For three years they farmed south of Le Mars, then two years south of Granville, three years near Remsen and one year near Marcus. In 1934 they came to Granville where they have since resided. He was the town marshal. He later had a work shop and followed carpenter trade.

Interment was in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Pallbearers were six nephews, Pvt. Albert Roder of Fort Lewis, Washington, Robert Penning of Omaha, Herman Freking of Le Mars, Lawrence Sanow of Le Mars, Leo Freking of Hospers and Frank Schnoes of Paullina.

Surviving are his wife and one son, Andrew, employed in Sioux City, five brothers and six sisters, namely Kathryn, Mrs. John Schnoes of Alton, Herman Schwarz of Alton, Anra, Mrs. Lawrence Penning of Ashton, Joseph Schwarz of Le Mars, Clara, Mrs. William Roder of Remsen, Agnes, Mrs. Richard Misener of Fresno, California, Agatha Schwarz of Granville, Theresa, Mrs. Richard Ormond of Harvard, Nebraska and Charles Schwarz of Hospers.
