Early Granville Pioneer Dies At Farm Home Mrs. P. Schwarz, nee Ahlers, born at Luxemburg, Iowa.

Mrs. Theresa Schwarz passed away at her farm home near Granville on Tuesday, May 15th following a 2 years illness.

Funeral services were held in St. Joseph's Church in gran-morning. A nephew, Reverend Arnold Ahlers of Laurens sang the Requiem Mass.

Theresa Ahlers Schwarz was born on February 9, 1872 at Luxemburg, Iowa. At the age of 18 years, she moved to Granville with her father, the late Henry Ahlers and has resided near here ever since. She was 73 years 3 months and 6 days of age at the time of her death. After her marriage to Peter Schwarz, she moved to a farm near Granville.

She is survived by 6 sons and 6 daughters: Mrs. John Schnoes and Herman of Alton; William of Granville; Mrs. Lawrence Penning of Ashton; Joseph of Le Mars; Mrs. William Roder of Remsen; Mrs. Joe Hughes of Howard, South Dakota; Agatha, Peter and Theresa at home; George of Hollywood, California; Sgt. Chas. Schwarz in the army some where in Holland.

There are 39 grandchildren, one brother, Herman Ahlers of Granville. She was preceded in death by her husband on August 18, 1927.

Mrs. Schwarz was a faithful member of St. Joseph's Church and the Christian Mother Society. Burial was made besides her husband in St. Joseph's Cemetery.

Relatives present from a distance were: Mrs. Joe Hughes and daughter of Howard, South Dakota; Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Penning and family of Ashton; Mr. and Mrs. John Schnoes and family of Alton, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Schwarz and family, Le Mars; Mr. and Mrs. Herman Schwarz and family, Alton; Mr. and Mrs. Bill Roder and family of Remsen; Mr. and Mrs. Lewis, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Vortherms of Adrian, Joe Ahlers and Ben Vortherms of Dell Rapids, South Dakota besides many other relatives from Le Mars and other towns.
