Frank C. Ballard, 84, of Albany, Oregon, a former long time resident of Hawarden, died Sunday. Funeral services were held Tuesday.

Mr. Ballard came to Hawarden as a young man and for many years serving as auditor for a chain of elevators. About 1920 the Ballards, in company with Mr. and Mrs. Ellsworth Brunskill, went to Geraldine, Montana and located on homesteads. Later he moved to Albany, Oregon, where he and his daughter, Mrs. Hogge, operated a grocery store. His wife, Almira Ballard died about ten years ago.

He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Hogge, and two step-daughters, Mrs. Ellsworth Brunskill of Albany, Oregon and Mrs. A.C. Schoeneman of Sioux Falls.
