Mrs. Randel Ballard, 55, Hawarden, died unexpectedly Tuesday, June 9 in a hospital at Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Services were at 1:30 P.M. Friday in the First Baptist Church at Hawarden. The Reverend Edrie A. Regier officiated. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery. There was a prayer service at 7:30 P.M. Thursday in the Dow Funeral Home in Hawarden.

Mrs. Ballard, the former Viola Shriner, was born July 28, 1925, at Hawarden. She was married May 12, 1945, at Springfield, Missouri. The couple lived in Columbus, Georgia until 1956 when they moved to Hawarden. Mr. Ballard died May 5, 1979. Mrs. Ballard was a member of the First Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Jerry (Judy) Klemme and a son, Randy, both of Hawarden; two brothers, Frederick “Bud” of Columbus and Jerry of Hawarden; a sister, Mrs. Eugene (Marilyn) Calvert of Bastrop, Texas and six grandchildren.
