Funeral services were held at 9 o'clock Wednesday morning at St. May's Catholic Church for Mrs. Mary Ann Schumacher, 87, long time resident of Chatsworth who died at the Hawarden hospital Sunday. Father Leander Friedman officiated at the Requiem Mass. Interment was at St. Mary's Cemetery under the direction of the Barnard Funeral Home.

Mary Ann Pottoff was born in Illinois August 5, 1869, and on October 10, 1889, married Henry Schumacher at Chatsworth. Following their marriage the couple farmed six miles south of Hawarden. In 1901 they became the proprietors of the Chatsworth Hotel. Mr. Schumacher died in 1940 but Mrs. Schumacher stayed on in the hotel which was her home for 56 years.

She was a member of the Royal Neighbors Lodge and St. Mary's Guild. Rosary was recited at the Barnard Funeral Home Tuesday evening.

Survivors include two sons, Henry and Louis; a daughter, Mrs. Frances Vogelzang, all of Sioux City; a sister, Mrs. George Meyer of Ray, North Dakota; 13 grandchildren and 22 great- grandchildren.
