John Schumacher, 85, of Sioux City, who for 30 years operated a butcher shop in Chatsworth, died Tuesday in a Sioux City hospital after an illness of six weeks.

Funeral services will be held today at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Sioux City with Reverend Father Cloud Billig officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Hawarden.

Mr. Schumacher was born May 14, 1869, at Dyersville, Iowa, and when a child moved with his parents to St. Marys, Iowa. As a young man he moved to Chatsworth. He had lived in Sioux City the last 30 years.

He married Mary Kay Westover on April 3, 1894, at Hawarden. She died in 1942.

Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Elvira Dowd and Mrs. Bernadine Fogle, both of Sioux City; four grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Mary Sendelbach of Muskogee, Oklahoma; and a brother, George Schumacher of El Reno, Oklahoma.
