Rita A. Schuetz, 83, of Alton died Monday, November 22, 1999, at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City after a lengthy illness.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 26, at 10:30 A.M. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton. Reverend James Tigges officiated. Burial followed at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Alton under the direction of the Fisch Funeral Home in Remsen.

Rita was born October 24, 1916, at rural Remsen, the daughter of Frank and Elizabeth (Nacke) Kass. She was raised in the Remsen area and received her education in the rural school. She married Ralph Schuetz on February 24, 1946, at Remsen. They farmed in the Remsen and Alton area. Mr. Schuetz died September 7, 1981. Rita continued to live on the farm near Alton. Mrs. Schuetz was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Church Guild and the St. Mary’s Rosary Society.

Survivors include two sons and their wives, Lyle and Janice Schuetz of Alton and Richard and Beth Schuetz of Remsen; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Delores Letsche and Imelda Roethler, both of Marcus and Georgia Kass of Remsen; four brothers, Joe and his wife Pat Kass of Cherokee, Ray Kass of Marcus, Charles and his wife Donna Kass of Sioux City and Leo and his wife Gwen Kass of Le Mars; a sister-in-law, Shirley Kass of Oyens; and a brother-in-law, Francis Schuetz of Cleghorn.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Darlene Schuetz and a brother, Greg Kass.
