Berend "Benard" Roelofs Sr. Died Sunday, Oct 23

Mr. Bernard Roelofs Sr. passed away Sunday morning, October 23, after an illness of a few days.

He has made his home with Mr. and Mrs. John Spenkelink for 12 years. His wife passed away April 17, 1943. Also a daughter, Mrs. Arie Wildeman, August 9, 1948, at the age of 47 years.

Bernard and Johanna (Tijsselink) Roelofs came to America in January 1920, with five children, leaving two married daughters in Holland,who came one year later.

He leaves to mourn his death six children, four daughters and two sons, Mrs. John Spenkelink, Sioux Center; Mrs. G.W. Niezink; Sioux Center; Mrs. H. Van Aartsen. Rock Rapids, Iowa; Mrs. L. Wildeman, Rock Rapids, Iowa; Ben Roelofs, Bellflower, California; Hein Roelofs, Hull, Iowa; and 29 grandchildren.

Six grandchildren will be pall bearers, Gary Spenkelink, Bernard Spenkelink, Bernard Niezink, Bill Wildeman, Henry Wildeman, Bernard Van Aartsen.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, October 2, at Central Reformed Church, 1 o'clock at the home of John Spenkelink and 1:30 at the church.
