Mrs. Anthony Rise, 76, died last Wednesday at her home in Hawarden after a brief illness. The funeral was held Saturday at St. Mary's Church in Hawarden with Reverend William Carel officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery under the direction of Dow Funeral Home. Rosary was said at the funeral home on Friday evening.

Mrs. Rise, the former Julia Thiel, was born May 19, 1891, at Buffalo, New York. Her husband died in 1951 in Hawarden where the couple had lived since 1920.

Survivors include three sisters, Mrs. Victoria Purcell of Delano, Minnesota, Miss Katherine Thiel of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Mrs. Harriet Fonfara of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, and two brothers, Aleck of Delano and Charles of Pray, Wisconsin.
