Services held for Henrietta Riphagen

Henrietta J. Riphagen, 70, of Orange City, died Friday March 6 at the local hospital after an illness of 8 weeks.

Funeral services were held March 9 at the First Reformed Church with the Reverend Eissens officiating. Burial was at Westlawn Cemetery under the direction of the Van Etten Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Alvin van Marel of Boyden, Creston Hoekstra of Sheldon, Clifford Te Slaa of Sioux Center, Howard Te Slaa of Hull, Ivan Van Marel and Gordon McKinstrey of Orange City.

Mrs. Riphagen was born February 15, 1900 in Musketeen, Iowa, and lived most of her life in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Orange City. In 1922 she married Gerrit H. Riphagen.

Preceding her in death were a son, Kenneth Ory, who died in infancy, her father, Jacob Van Marel, a sister, Tena, and one brother, Jake of Sioux Center.

Survivors include, six children, Vernon of Chino, California; Merlin of Artesia, California; Baulah (Mrs. Clarence Harms) of Hawarden; Sharla (Mrs. Paul De Jager) of Maurice; Arloa (Mrs. Dave Vande Brake) of Sacramento, California; Fay (Mrs. Robert Mastus) of San Fransisco, California; 17 grandchildren; her mother, Mrs. Jake Van Marel, 94; four sister, Irene (Mrs. Will Te Slaa) of Hull; Mabel (Mrs. Fred W. Cleveringa) of Sioux Center; Gertrude (Mrs. Gerrit Te Slaa) of Hull; and Cynthia (Mrs. Clarence W. Cleveringa) of Sioux Center; and three brothers, Arie, of Steen, Minnesota, William and Irvin of Orange City.
