Warren Valentine, age 84, of Sioux Center, IA, died Thursday, November 1, 2018, at Royale Meadows Care Center in Sioux Center.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 6th at 11:00 a.m. at the Carmel Reformed Church of rural Rock Valley, IA with Rev. Mike Pitsenberger officiating.

A prayer service for family and friends will be Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at the Carmel Church. Interment will follow the prayer service at the Carmel Cemetery.

Visitation with the family present will be held on Monday, November 5th from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Carmel Reformed Church.

Warren Dale Valentine was born January 4, 1934, in Doon, IA the son of Albert and Rose (Vos) Valentine. Warren grew up in the Doon area and attended Boyden-Hull public school. Warren was united in marriage to Betty De Haan on August 31, 1955 at the bride's parents’ home at Lebanon. The newly wed couple made their home in northwest Iowa and in 1966 they moved to Carmel. Warren farmed for six years then started working as a carpenter. In 1972 he began his own carpentry business, Valentine Construction, in the Sioux Center area. Warren enjoyed mission work, camping, traveling, shooting pool with his friends, singing in the Carmel Quartet and especially spending time with his family and going to his grandchildren’s events. He was an active member of the Carmel Reformed Church where he had served as Deacon and Elder. Warren was a kind-hearted, patient man. He was a devoted and loving husband and father. This past Thursday, November 1, 2018, Warren died at the age of 84 at Royale Meadows Care Center in Sioux Center, IA.

Warren is survived by his wife, Betty; their children, Wally (Linda) Valentine of Sioux Center, IA, Arlene (Ed) Griffioen of Sheldon, IA, Glenda Van Meeteren of Hull, IA and Bev (David) Shipley of State Center, IA; 15 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Pete (Harriett) Valentine of Sioux Falls, SD and sisters-in-law Marquerite Valentine of Lakewood, CA and Elizabeth Valentine of Cedar Rapids, IA .

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John and Alvin; sister Nellie and brother-in-law Ed Riepma; son-in-law, Ron Van Meeteren.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center.
