Mr. Riedeman was born in Wyke in the Netherlands on December 14, 1870. He came to the United States in April of 1886, with his parents, one brother and three sisters. Settling in the town of Alton, he lived there the remainder of his life.

On December 20, 1893, he was married to Dena Rexwinkel. To this union seven children were born; of whom three preceded him in death; John, age 16 months, Bernice, age 11 months, and Esther, age two years and four months.

Surviving are his wife and four children, Jeanette, Mrs. R.H. Cambier of Alton, William H. of Waupun, Wisconsin; Raymond J. of Sanborn, and Dr. D.J. Riedeman of Hospers. He is also survived by four grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. H.W. Klein (Hattie) and Miss Jeanette Riedeman, both of Alton.

In Alton's early years, he and his brother, Henry, who preceded him in death, owned and operated a lumber yard, known as Riedeman Brothers Lumber Yard.

He served on the local school board for more than 20 years, and later was a local livestock buyer, until his retirement from business in 1927.
