MRS. OTIS C. PECK DIED SUNDAY--DEATH FOLLOWS SOON AFTER ACUTE HEART ATTACK--WAS 70 YEARS OF AGE AND HAD LIVED HERE 38 YEARS--LEAVES HUSBAND AND SIX CHILDREN

Mrs. Otis C. Peck, a resident of this community for almost forty years, passed away at 5 o’clock Sunday morning at the home of her son, Clifton Peck, in this city. Mrs. Peck had been suffering from heart ailment for several months but was not bedfast until Saturday when she was taken critically ill and death claimed her early the following morning.

Addie Raymer was born at Monroe, Wisconsin, June 14, 1865, so was 70 years, 9 months and 8 days old at the time of her death. She grew to womanhood in Wisconsin where on December 30, 1887,she was united in marriage with Otis C. Peck. To this union were born nine children, three sons dying in infancy. In 1891 the family came to Iowa and located near Ames where they lived until 1898 when they came to this community, locating on a farm in Union County, southwest of Hawarden. She continued to make her home on the farm until five or six years ago which Mr. and Mrs. Peck retired and moved to Hawarden, living in the east part of this city. Just two weeks ago they moved from their home and while they were looking about for another place they lived with their son where death claimed her.

She is survived by her husband and six children. The children are Mrs. Fay Smith, Mrs. Cecil Millikan, Mrs. William Watkins and Clifton Peck of Hawarden; Mrs. Perley Smith of Burke, South Dakota and John Peck of Herrick, South Dakota. She also leaves one step-daughter, Mrs. G.D. Williams of Burke, South Dakota. She is also survived by three sisters and two brothers: Mrs. Carl Von Coelln, Mrs. John O’Neill and John Raymer, Minneapolis, Mrs. Ronker, Laramie, Wyoming and William Raymer, who resides in Arizona. There are also 32 grand children and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services were held at the Ross Funeral Home at 2 o’clock Wednesday afternoon with Reverend Clyde Clark, pastor of the Baptist Church, in charge. Interment was made in Grace Hill Cemetery.
