R. OOSTRA DIED LAST FRIDAY--WAS HULL RESIDENT SINCE ‘98

Mr. Reindert Oostra, a resident of Hull and vicinity for the past forty-one years, died at his home here in Hull, last Friday afternoon at 4:00 o’clock. Mr. Oostra had been ill for many months, suffering with cancer, which was responsible for his death.

Funeral services were held from the home Monday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock and interment was made in Hope Cemetery. Reverend A. Cammenga, pastor of the Hull Protestant Reformed Church officiated at the services, assisted by Reverend Reinsma of Bijou, Minnesota.

Reindert Oostra was born on July 24, 1862 in the Province of Groningen, The Netherlands, and died at Hull, Iowa, on June 9, 1939, at the age of 76 years, 10 months and 15 days.

On May 16, 1891, he was united in marriage to Miss Roelofje De Boer, and to this union two children were born: John and Annie (Mrs. Lawrence Gorter) both of Doon.

In March, 1898, they came to the United Stated and made their home in this vicinity, living near and in Hull ever since.

Mr. Oostra is survived by his widow, two children, eighteen grandchildren and one sister, who lives in the old country. His parents and two sisters died in Holland, and one grandson, Andrew Oostra, died last November 19th.

We join with the many friends in extending sincere sympathy to the bereaved wife and children.
