Charles Nelson Oelrich, 72, of Hull died Friday, November 121, at the Sioux Center Community Hospital.

Funeral service was Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the American Reformed Church in Hull. The Reverend Steven Bierly officiated. Interment was a t the Hope Cemetery at Hull.

Oelrich was born November 22, 1935, in rural Hull, the son of Lawrence and Nellie (Groendyke) Oelrich. He was raised at Hull, where he graduated from the Hull High School. He also attended the Iowa State University in Ames for a year. On December 4, 1956, he married Burdette Mae Rozeboom in Steen, Minnesota. They farmed the Oelrich Century Farm east of Hull. In 1986, he also started trucking. Health problems in 1999 forced him to retire. In January of 2006, they moved into Hull.

He was a member of American Reformed Church, where he had served on the consistory as a deacon. He had also been a trustee of Sheridan Township, and he belonged to the Sioux County Cattlefeeders Association. He enjoyed collecting model tractors, camping, music, especially polka and gospel music, traveling, and attending family activity, particularity involving the grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of almost 52 years; a son and his wife, Ronald and Linda Oelrich of Randolph, Nebraska; two daughters and their husbands, Bonita and Gregory De Boer of Overland Park, Kansas, and Lorna and Darrell Westra, of Hawarden; seven grandchildren; a sister, Lorna Oxenreider of Indianola; a sister-in-law, Gladys Oelrich of Watertown, South Dakota; a brother-in-law and his wife, Harvey and Gertrude Rozeboom of Hills, Minnesota; and several nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Paul Oelrich; and a brother-in-law, Jack Oxenreider.
