J. P. Schutt services held Monday in Holland, Mich.;
Funeral services for Jerry P. Schutt, 81, Valley State bank president for 24 years, were held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Holland, Mich. Mr Schutt died at Memphis, Tenn., Wednesday, Sept. 15.
Burial was in Pilgrim home cemetery, Holland Mi. A former Holland resident, Schutt, had also resided in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Memphis.
Surviving are his wife, Lucy; one daughter, Mrs. Elwood (Kathleen) Richardson of Memphis; two sons, Robert of Hinsdale, Ill. and Paul of Kenosha, Wis.; one sister, Mrs. William Beckman Sr. of Holland; seven grandchildren; one great grandchild. Mr. Schutt was born in Michigan, moved to Le Mars in 1906 and to Sioux Center in 1913. That is where he obtained the charter for the Valley State bank which was moved to Rock Valley in 1934. While living in Sioux Center, Mr. Schutt served four years as mayor, Dr. Nelson A Price, former Rock Valley Methodist minister, officiated at the Monday service. Donald A Klein and Gene P Bunch, flew to Holland for the services and represented the bank and its directors.
