Funeral services were held Monday, October 14, 1963 at 1:30 p.m. at the Van Etten Funeral Home in Orange City, for Gertrude Mouw who passed away Thursday, October 10th, at the age of 88 years, 7 months and 18 days, after an illness since October 9, 1962, when she was admitted to the Orange City Community Hospital. Reverend H. G. Schoon, pastor of the Boyden First Reformed Church officiated.

Special music was furnished by soloist Mrs. Larry Salmon who sang "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" and "Safe in the Arms of Jesus" with Mrs. William Rons at the piano. Pallbearers were four nephews, Harry Reinsma, Alvin Winter, Gerrit L. Mouw and William Mouw, Jr. Interment was at the Orange City Cemetery.

Gertrude Mouw, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Lambertus and Arendina (De Lassacquere) Mouw, was born February 22, 1875 at Orange City. She made her home in that vicinity all her life.

She was the mother of one son, William Mouw of Boyden, who with his wife she leaves to mourn her passing, with 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters: Mrs. Johanna Ver Steeg and Nancy Mouw (at the age of 12 years); a brother Albert Mouw; and one daughter-in-law.

Relatives and friends attending the funeral came from Hardwick, Worthington, Adrian and Luverne, Minnesota; Orange City, Alton, Hospers, Hull, Boyden, Everly, Spencer, Sanborn, Inwood. Rock Rapids, Sibley, and George, Iowa.
