Gerald A. Homan, 71 of Remsen died Wed. in a Sioux City hospital after a brief illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Remsen. The Rev. Dennis Sefcik will officiate. Burial will be at the parish cemetery. The rosary will be recited by the parish at 3 and 8 p.m. today and by the Knights of Columbus at 8;30 in Fisch Funeral Home in Remsen.

Mr. Homan was born Oct. 9, 1915 in Craig. He moved to the Remsen area at the age of 1 with his parents where he was raised and graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1933. He married Armella Pottebaum June 4, 1945 in Alton. The couple was engaged in dairy farming near Remsen until their retirement 1979. They moved to Remsen in Dec. 1984.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and 4th degree Knights of Columbus. He served on the Plymouth County Board of Revue, was past director of Pocahontas State Bank, and past director of Sioux City Milk Producers Assoc.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, Richard and David both of Remsen, Donald of Cedar Rapids, and Mark of Omaha; seven daughters, Sister Jeanette Homan OSF of Dubuque, Dr. Rose M. Homan, DDS of Santa Monica, CA; Mrs. Gary (Mary) Corbin of Omaha, Airman 1st Class Katherine Homan, stationed with U.S. Air Force in Omaha, Mrs. Michael (Betty) Klesitz of Tinton Falls, N..J. and Miss Rita and Mrs. Thoman (Susan) Gensichen, both of Sioux City; three brothers, Gordon, Peter, and Paul all of Remsen; two sisters, Miss Elaine Homan of Remsen and Mrs. Jack (Marion) Frampton of Long Beach, Ca and 11 grandchildren.
