Jongewaard, Willem C born 1894 IA died 4 Jul 1911, buried in Barnes Co. ND., but listed on cemetery stone of Jongewaards in West Lawn cemetery Orange City IA.

He was the son of Ringert A. Jongewaard and Adriana De Booy.

Marion ND on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday S. Muilenburgs of Orange City, Richard Sipmas of Floyd tsp. and John Auchten of Judd ND were in that area. Crops were discussed as it was very hot, raising corn has a lot to endure.

Several town in the area held a joint picnic in the Grove of Mr. Gerrit Vink. There was a good turn out especially from the town of Litchville. All were in a good mood from the start. There was a program after dinner that was for amusement and conversation, when Dr. Stixrud of Litchville arrived in his car, which brought to the R. A. Jongewaard family that son William at 10 oclock in the morning had drowned in the Cheyenne River. The family and participants were crushed.

There was no reason of continue the picnic with the grieving family of A. Jongewaard, J. D. Baas, and S. Muilenburg.

In the afternoon the body of Willem Jongewaard was found at the bottom of the river, arrived at 1 o’clock in the night at Port Ramson on to Litchville the following evening. What sorrow for the parents, brothers and sisters!

In the afternoon, the ill-treated person of Willem Jongewaard was found at the bottom of the river. At 1 o'clock in the night the hour of Port Ramson arrived at Litchville. And at six o'clock on the following evening it was brought thru; and oh, that arrival under such circumstances, that they may feel even for the family circle than described, and what will it be for parents and brothers and sisters! The burials took place Thursday, at 2 o'clock in the afternoon. Mr. Albert Jongewaard came home from Rugby, N.D., about 1 hour before the burial service, and Matt came from Valley City where he worked. For the last time, the children were already at home. The burials were officiated by Rev Searles of the Litchvllle Congreg. church, and by Rev J. J Van der Schaaf of the Reformed church of Linten, Litchville and North Marion
