De Haan Stella (Mrs. Louis) 1900-1998

Stella was the daughter of Frank and Willemina (Uit De Flesch) Vander Maten. When she was two months old, she came to the U.S. with her family. She was raised at Boyden.
On April 10, 1924, she married Louis De Haan in rural Boyden. They farmed at Newkirk until 1963 when they retired into Orange City. Mr. De Haan passed away March 21, 1969 in Orange City.
On June 16, 1994 she moved to the Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull.
Mrs. De Haan was a member of the Newkirk Reformed Church, where she was active in the Mission Fellowship Circle. She played piano and organ at nursing homes especially as a resident of Pleasant Acres.

Survivors include her seven children and their spouses, John and Darlene De Haan of Camanche; Frank and Johanna De Haan of Hudsonville, Mi; Arvella and Dr. Robert Schuller of Orange, CA; Winifred and Gerrit J. Bosman of Boyden; Henry L and Loretta De Haan of Alton; and Margene and Norm Van Ommeren and Stanley and Ruth De Haan, all of Orange City; 27 grandchildren, 71 great-grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law Betty; a grandson, Arlan; a great-grandson Kade; three brothers; and three sisters.
