Mrs. Caroline John, an old resident of this vicinity, who passed away at the home of her daughter last Sunday, was buried from the St. John's Lutheran church Tuesday afternoon Rev. C.H. Nuoffer officiating. She was past eighty-three years of age and is survived by five grown children: D. John of Struble, Fred John of Maurice, Wm. John of Idaho Fall, Idaho; Mrs. Spenas of Struble and Mrs. Lentz of Wadena, Minn.

Mrs. Caroline Mary John passed away last Friday at the home of her son Fred, three miles southwest of Maurice. The cause of her death was pneumonia from which she had suffered for two weeks. Deceased was born in Seehausen, Germany, August 20, 1833 and was therefore eigthy-one years of age at the time of her death. She was married to Wm. John in 1858 in Seehausen, Germany and they came to the United States in 1869 settling in Clayton county, Iowa. Later, in 1883, they moved to a farm in Sioux county, northwest of Struble. Five children were born to them, all of whom survive their parents, Wm. John, the father, having died
August 29, 1889. Deceased was laid to rest in St. John's Lutheran cemetery Tuesday, March 9, Rev. C.D. Nuoffer conducting the services. She is survived by her five children, Fred of Maurice, Dick of Struble, Pauline Spinas of Struble, Elizabeth Lentz of Wadena, Minn., and William of Idaho Falls, Idaho. The sympathy of the community is extended to the bereaved ones in their hour of sorrow.
