Mrs. Peter (Olivia) Niichel, age 82, of Granville, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, July 1, 1997, at Northwest Iowa Health Center in Sheldon, Iowa.

Services were held Saturday, July 5, qt 10:30 A.M. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Granville. Reverend Clem Currans and Reverend James Tigges officiated. Fisch Funeral Home directed the services.

Olivia (Langenhorst) Niichel was born July 15, 1914 at rural Hospers, the daughter of Clemens and Magalena (Hentges) Langenhorst. She was raised and educated in the Hospers area. She graduated from the Hospers Public High School in 1932. She did domestic work in the Hospers area prior to her marriage. She married Peter, November 24, 1938 at Hospers. They farmed in the Ashton area until February. In 1952 when they moved to near Granville and farmed until December 1976 when they retired and moved to Granville.

Survivors include her husband, Peter; three daughters and their husbands, Phyllis and Daniel Jungers, Maxine and Merlin Theis all of Hospers, Donna and Ronald Delperdang of Le Mars, Iowa. Twelve grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law; Mrs. Lawrence (Alverna) Langenhorst, Le Mars, Iowa and Mrs. Harold (Barbara) Langenhorst of Larchwood, Iowa.

She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Church Guild and Christian Mothers all of Granville.

She was preceded in death by one grandson, Andy Theis; three brothers, Lawrence, Theodore and Harold Langenhorst.
