Alverna J. Langenhorst, 88, of Le Mars, formerly of Sheldon, died Friday, May 19, 2000 at Plymouth Manor Care Center in Le Mars following a lengthy illness.

Services were Tuesday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with the Reverend Andrew Hoffman officiating. Burial was in St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in Sheldon.

Mrs. Langenhorst was born December 16, 1911, in Oyens, the daughter of John and Theresa (Krantz) Feller. She grew up in Granville and attended St. Joseph’s Parochial School. She married Lawrence T. Langenhorst on June 14, 1938, in Le Mars. They lived in Sheldon for many years where she worked for Aalfs Manufacturing Company. He died January 14, 1982. In the spring of 1982 she moved to Le Mars.

She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Le Mars and a former member of Catholic Daughters of America in Sheldon.

Survivors include two sisters, Marie Howard of Sioux City, and Gertrude and her husband, Leo De Force of Le Mars; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; two sisters, Agnes Thorman, Appolonia Baadte; two brothers, John J. and Lawrence T. Feller.
