Barbara S. (Barb) Langenhorst, 81, of Larchwood died Wednesday, October 3, 2001, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, from complications of a stroke.

A funeral mass was held on Saturday, October 6, at The Church of St. Mary in Larchwood. Father John Vakulskas celebrated. Burial followed at Larchwood Cemetery under the direction of the Roste Funeral Home, Rock Rapids.

Barbara Susan Full, daughter of Arthur and Clara (Bunkers) Full, was born June 12, 1920, near Taunton, Minnesota. She moved with her family to Granville and later to Alton where they farmed. On January 27, 1941, she was married to Harold “Demps” Langenhorst at Granville. They moved to Hospers and farmed. In 1966 the couple moved to Larchwood and owned Demps’ and Barb’s Café for six years. After selling the café, Barb continued to work for various café owners. She also worked at West Lyon Community School and K-Products. Mr. Langenhorst died April 17, 1994. She continued living in Larchwood.

Barb was a member of The Church of St. Mary in Larchwood and was long-time member of St. Catherine’s Circle. She enjoyed traveling, mending clothes, playing cards and celebrating special occasions with family and friends.

Survivors include her children and their spouses, Carrol and Janet Langenhorst of Newton, Kansas, Linda and Dennis Kotz of Maxwell, Dave and Donna Langenhorst of Larchwood, Debbie Langenhorst of Rock Rapids, Lori and Larry Summers of Larchwood, Alan and Kileen Langenhorst of Aurora, Colorado, a son-in-law, Greg Nelson and his wife Tricia of Danvers Minnesota; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; three brothers, Alvin Full of Alton, Mark Full of Minneota, Minnesota and Arthur Full of Stewartstown, Pennsylvania and two sisters, Inez Reichle of Alton and Janie Croatt of Sibley; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter in infancy and another daughter, Shirley Nelson; and three bothers, Ferdinand, James and Ray Full.
