ELMER MILLER DIES THIS PAST WEEK

Funeral services were held this past Monday afternoon, March 15th, 1954, in the First Reformed Church in Boyden for Mr. Elmer Isaac Miller, son of the late John and Julia (Finch) Miller. Mr. Miller was born October 27, 1882 on the Miller homestead two miles north of Boyden and passed away Thursday noon March 11th at his home in Boyden. He was 71 years, 4 months and 12 days at the time of his death. Death was due to a heart attack.

The Reverend Henry Baak, pastor of the United Presbyterian Church, conducted funeral services assisted by the Reverend Henry Steunenberg, pastor of the First Reformed Church. Interment was made at the Boyden Cemetery.

A sextets and trio of the Boyden High school sang “Going Home” and “The Old Rugged Cross” accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Lorrain Grooters.

The deceased lived in this vicinity all his life. He attended the Boyden Public School and for the past 35 years he has enjoyed serving the people of Boyden in that capacity. Elmer, who was janitor on the Boyden School system for several years will be missed by Boyden’s past and present students.

He was preceded in death by his parents and twin sister Elma.

He is survived by two sisters, Ida, Mrs. George Dean of Nashua and Gertrude, Mrs. Fred Cole of Kennebec, South Dakota, and two brothers, Arthur and John, both of Boyden besides several nieces and nephews.
